October Newsletter - I have learned that you can make it through anything - October 25, 2011

I still can’t believe I am an author, but as Tasha the dog says.....

“I have learned that you can make it through anything with the help of faith, family and friends.

A long walk now and then helps too!”

Good Days Are for Walking has been printed and is on it’s way to Forestport NY!

A sincere thank you to all who have already purchased a book, or books, and to all those who have generously donated to the Ted Eychner Memorial Fund to buy books for the KEYS Kids Care Packages!  Please continue to spread the word!

I am still working on marketing and distribution of the book, and on the official release event.  Keep checking the NEW website for information:

www.gooddaysareforwalking.com

September Newsletter - Changing Seasons - September 20, 2011

Changing Seasons,

I love living in Upstate New York and the changing of the seasons.  For me this year the changing seasons have taken on new significance.  As we bridge the gap between summer and fall, I am bridging some life seasons.  As some of you know, my Dad, Ted Eychner, passed away August 20. He was a pillar of our family, our extended family, and the community.  He is greatly missed, but the unconditional love he shared with those he met, lives on, for now and forever!

On a happier note, John and I celebrated our anniversary a few days early this year. On September 18 we got a puppy!  She is a Bichon Frise - Poodle mix and her name is Jasmine Angel Mucks!  Her initials, as some of my musical friends have noticed, are JAM!  Appropriate, yes, but not intentional. She is a furry bundle of joy and love!  I am hoping she travels well and you will get to meet her at a concert or book signing soon.

Speaking of book signings, Good Days Are for Walking went to the printer for a “proof” copy September 19! I am so excited, and frankly, still a little stunned that I am an author!  The cover price is $7.99 plus tax, and it will initially be available for sale at my concerts and book signings.  Other purchasing opportunities will be announced on my website, www.sunnyrockshoresmusic.com, so be sure to check there often.

Good Days Are for Walking is also going to be included in the Music Therapy Care Packages given by the KEYS Program to children with cancer and other serious illnesses.  We have started a memorial fund in my father’s name to buy the books for KEYS kids.  Thank you to all who have already donated.  If you care to make a donation in Dad’s name, or in honor or memory of someone else, please contact Colleen Bennett, KEYS Program Founder, 308 Sherrill Rd. Suite 100, Sherrill NY, 13461, telephone 315-363-6446.  Since KEYS will be buying in bulk, the books will be offered at 20% discount ($6.39).  Don’t forget, your donation is tax deductible. The KEYS goal this year is to reach 5,000 children!

I had the honor and pleasure to write and perform a song, House of God, for the Otter Lake Community Church 90th Anniversary, August 28.  Hurricane Irene made for a miserable day outside and forced all activities under cover, but there was still the usual warmth and light in the church sanctuary!

I have been traveling around central NY this summer, invited to perform at great coffee houses in Lowell and in Lyons Falls, catching up with friends and relatives, singing together, and praising God in our songs!  Special times!  I had two shows at Old Forestport Days, thanks Jeannie!  One for the young-uns, one for the not as young-uns!  Both were great fun.

I was also invited to the Utica/Cayuga-Syracuse Presbyterian Women’s retreat, at Vanderkamp.  I was asked to facilitate the writing of a song that related to the program presented by Rick Ufford-Chase.  That was no small task and until the last minute, when Rick was done and it was my turn, I didn’t fully know what I was going to do.  I was blessed to have the spirit guide me, as well as those present, and as a Community we came up with 7 new verses to the song “Let Us Break Bread Together”.

The coffee house-concert series is winding down...but you never know what might pop up next!  Keep checking the www.sunnyrockshoresmusic.com for updates.  Don’t hesitate to drop me an email if you have any comments, questions, suggestions, or just to say hi!

Enjoy the autumn, the beautiful colors, and the cool crisp temperatures, and look forward to winter, and its reminder, “Now it’s time to rest”.

Ecclesiasties 3:1 To every time there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.

Much love and blessings to you and yours!

Donna

PS.  Please tell me how I am going to find my new WHITE puppy in the snow!?!

June Newsletter - Good Days are for Walking! - June 26, 2011

Happy Summer!

Or at least that is what the calendar tells us!  I hope you take every opportunity to enjoy the sun when it shines!  And when it doesn't I hope your smile helps light the day for others!

A few updates...

I had the pleasure of performing at a KEYS Benefit Concert in June at the Whitesboro Presbyterian Church.  What a beautiful church, the building and the people.  Thank you for your support!

I also participated in a songwriters circle at the Tramontane Cafe in Utica in June.  It was a lot of fun.  I was given an assignment to write a song about Trash Cans!  It was pretty corny, but it got a few chuckles!  Thank you to John Keller for the invitation.

Nashville is on my radar again for July.  I am going to the NAMM Conference once again to represent the KEYS Program.  This is the conference we went to last year and we were able to "drum up" support in the form of guitar picks, strumsticks, and partnerships!  Katie Quick and I have been invited to perform at the Foundation Lounge.  I am very excited about this opportunity!

I am getting closer to publishing my children's book about my dog Tasha's journey with cancer and chemotherapy.  I finally have a title too!  Good Days are for Walking!  It has been emotional at times, I still miss her a lot, but it has been therapeutic also.

Last, but most certainly not least, thank you all for your support of For You and For Me.  If you haven't shared it please do, especially this Fourth of July. They did it for you and they did it for me, in the land of the brave, home of the free!

Check out my upcoming dates below and check the website for updates!

Never forget, the Son always shines!

Much love and blessings to you and yours!

Donna
